Fly Creek Cider Mill OPENS for 169th season

Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard Opens for 169th Season with Fresh Flavors and Feathered Friends

Fly Creek, NY – The Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard is set to open for its 169th season on Friday, May 9, welcoming visitors back with the sights, sounds, and tastes that have made it a Central New York tradition.

Famous for its cider, fudge, and Mill-aged New York cheddar, the Mill is also cherished for its lively millpond community of geese and ducks. This year, guests can stroll the boardwalk to spot the Sebastopol geese proudly showing off their newly hatched goslings—a sure sign that spring has arrived in Fly Creek.

“Our returning guests often mention how much they enjoy watching our collection of fowl—it’s part of what makes a visit here so special,” says Bill Michaels, owner of the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard. “We’re excited to welcome everyone back for another season and are grateful for the continued support from our Central New York community.”

A favorite stop for many is the Mill’s tasting room, where guests can unwind with flights of apple wines, hard ciders, distilled spirits, and—new this year—craft beers from Critz Farm in Cazenovia. The tasting room overlooks the millpond, production area, and vintage equipment, offering a one-of-a-kind setting for sipping and relaxing.

The Fly Creek Cider Mill is a founding member of the Cooperstown Beverage Trail Association, a top destination for craft beverage lovers. The 2025 trail marks the return of Brewery Ommegang and welcomes a new member: the Northway Brewing Hop House, located just north of Ommegang. With this addition, the trail now features eight unique stops, offering even more reasons to explore and taste your way through the region.

Whether you're visiting for the cider, cheese, or the charming company of the Mill's feathered residents, the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard promises a memorable experience
